VANILLA
JAM BUNDLES
Knyten med sylt och vaniljkräm
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
6 oz soft butter or margarine
approx 1½ oz fresh yeast
1½ cups cold milk
1 egg
good 1/3 to 2/3 cup red jam, e.g. strawberry
powdered sugar
Heat the oven to 440 to 480F.

4 1/3 to 4 3/4 cups flour

Filling:
3/4 cup ready-made custardgood 1/3 to 2/3 cup red jam, e.g. strawberry
Brushing and decoration:
1 eggpowdered sugar
Heat the oven to 440 to 480F.
Mix all but 1/3 cup of the flour
with sugar, baking powder and salt. Finely divide the fat in the flour mixture.
Dissolve the yeast in the milk and stir in the egg. Mix this with the flour and
work to a smooth dough. Add more flour if needed. Cover with a cloth and let
rise for about 1½ hours.
Roll out the dough to 20 x 20 inches. Cut into 49 squares, 3 x 3 inches (or
slightly less). Put a dab of custard and some jam on each square, fold in the
corners and pinch together. Put the buns in paper tins, cover with a cloth and
let rise for 30 to 40 minutes. Brush with lightly beaten egg and dust with
powdered sugar before serving, if you wish.
Bake in the middle of the oven for 6
to 8 minutes.
