Orange glazed meat loaf - Apelsinglaserad färslimpa

ORANGE GLAZED MEAT LOAF
Apelsinglaserad färslimpa

A festive version of the everyday meatloaf – the ground meat is mixed with small pieces of smoked ham which gives an extra delicious flavour, and the orange glaze makes it festive.

4 servings

3½ oz smoked ham
14 oz ground pork or 50% beef, 50% pork
2 slices white loaf bread
1/3 cup milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
white pepper
coarsely ground black pepper

Orange glaze:
fresh juice from 1 orange
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon Maizena

Decoration:
orange slices

Finely dice the ham and mix it with the ground meat in a bowl. Crumble the bread and let it swell in the milk for a couple of minutes. Mix the meat with egg, salt, white pepper and bread. Shape to a loaf, put it in an oven-proof dish and sprinkle with black pepper.

Mix orange juice, brown sugar and Maizena in a saucepan and boil while stirring until it thickens.

Put the meat loaf in the middle of the oven at 350F for 50 to 60 minutes. Brush occasionally with the glazing, decorate with orange slices and serve the meat loaf cut in slices with mashed potatoes, pickled gherkin and a green salad with a mustard dressing.

Enjoy!
