Pärondessert
A fine, slightly old-fashioned dessert which makes
you think of Sunday dinner at your grandmother’s …
4 servings
4 pears, approx 1 lb
water2/3 cups heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon treacle/molasses
1 teaspoon cocoa
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
1½ tablespoons potato starch
1 cup milk
1/3 cup flaked Almonds
Peel, core and split the pears. Boil until almost tender in about 1 cup water – time depending on how ripe the pears are.
Bring cream, sugar, treacle and cocoa in a small
saucepan until it thickens, 5 to 8 minutes. Drain the pears well and transfer
them to a greased, oven-proof dish. Pour the sauce over the pears and sprinkle
with cinnamon.
Beat eggs, vanilla sugar, potato starch and milk and
pour this over the pears and sprinkle with flaked almonds. Bake the pear
dessert in the middle of the oven at 350F for about 50 minutes or
until the egg batter has set.
Serve lukewarm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Enjoy!
