Festive beef stew - Festgryta med nötkött

FESTIVE BEEF STEW
Festgryta med nötkött

A stew is always appreciated. Let it boil until the meat is really tender and the sauce is really hearty …

4 servings

14 oz to 1 lb boneless beef cut in
cubes
1 tablespoon flour
1½ tablespoon oil
1 chopped onion
2 to 3 crushed garlic cloves
¾ to 1 cup mild chili sauce
2 celery stems in pieces
2/3 cup meat bouillon
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
¼ teaspoon white or black pepper
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Cut the meat in even-sized cubes and coat them with flour. Heat the oil in a frying pot and brown the meat in two rounds. Transfer to a plate. Sizzle the onion until tender, approx 5 minutes, and add garlic. Put the meat back in the pot and add chili sauce, celery, bouillon, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, pepper and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and then simmer slowly, covered, for 1 to 1½ hours. Dilute with some water if you want more liquid.

Flavour to taste and serve with e.g. raw-fried sliced potatoes, whole tomatoes or a tomato salad and some kind of boiled vegetables.

Enjoy!

Bella
