Macaroni and ground meat au gratin - Makaronigratäng med färs

MACARONI AND GROUND MEAT AU GRATIN
Makaronigratäng med färs

All kids’ favourite gratin – macaroni mixed with ground meat under a delicious cheese cover. Of course it’s delicious for grown-ups as well!

4 servings

Macaroni for 4
water, salt
1 onion
½ green bell pepper
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
14 oz ground meat, either beef only or mixed beef-pork
1/3 cup mild chili sauce
3 tablespoons chopped parsley
½ meat bouillon cube
½ teaspoon dried basil
¼ to ½ teaspoon salt
white pepper
1 ¾ cups grated cheese

Boil the macaroni according to package instructions. Peel and chop the onion. Trim the sweet pepper and cut it in pieces. Heat up the fat in a frying pan and sizzle onion and ground meat until coloured. Add the sweet pepper and sizzle it all together for about 5 minutes. Add chili sauce, parsley and bouillon cube and flavour with basil, salt and pepper.

Stir in ¾ cup of the cheese and flavour to taste. Pour the macaroni and the ground meat mixture in an oven-proof dish, blend well and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 350F for 20 to 25 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Serve with shredded iceberg lettuce in a vinaigrette dressing or a salad with grated carrot and celery root (celeriac).

Enjoy!
