Magic red cabbage - Magisk rödkål

MAGIC RED CABBAGE
Magisk rödkål

This is an excellent way to serve cabbage! It makes a very good accompaniment with (to? Prepositions in English – or any language – are an abomination!) barbecued meat.

4 servings

1 lb red cabbage
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 garlic clove
1 tablespoon mustard seeds
¼ cup coarsely chopped dill
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/3 cup vegetable bouillon

Trim and finely shred the red cabbage. Heat up the oil in a large frying pan or a wok pan on medium heat. Crush and add the garlic, add mustard seeds and sauté for about 5 minutes until the mustard seeds start to “pop”. Add the red cabbage and the chopped dill and fry/wok for about 1 minute. Add vinegar and bouillon and bring to a boil. Put a lid on and lower the heat, then simmer slowly for about 20 minutes until the cabbage is tender.

Remove from heat and serve immediately.
