Minute steaks Russian style - Rysk lövbiff

MINUTE STEAKS RUSSIAN STYLE
Rysk lövbiff

Thin steaks of meat like these are always nice to serve. This Russian-inspired version is, of course, served with a little crème fraîche (or soured cream) …

4 servings

2 tomatoes
2 pickled gherkins
1 can mixed mushrooms, approx 6½ oz
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
½ meat bouillon cube
1 teaspoon Chinese soy sauce
¼ cup water
salt, pepper
4 minute steaks
2 tablespoons mustard
1/3 cup crème fraîche or soured cream
paprika
salt

Chop tomatoes and gherkins and pour off the liquid from the mushrooms. Melt 1 tablespoon fat in a saucepan and sizzle the mushrooms until coloured. Add tomatoes, gherkin, bouillon cube, soy sauce and water and simmer slowly for 5 minutes. Flavour to taste with salt and pepper.

Flavour the meat with salt and pepper as well. Spread the mustard on the sliced meat and fold them double. Melt remaining fat in a frying pan and fry on both sides until coloured and done to your liking. Flavour the crème fraîche with paprika and some salt.

Serve the steaks with the mushroom mix, some crème fraîche and rawfried (or Hasselback) potatoes and a salad.

Enjoy!

Bella
