APPLE MERINGUE DESSERT
Äppeldessert med maräng
Serves 4
4 apples
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons honey
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
Crumble dough:
0.4 cup flour
0.2 cup muscovado sugar
0.3 cup oats
2 tablespoon sugar
1.7 oz butter
2 tablespoons chopped pistachios
Meringue:
2 egg whites
0.2 cup sugar
Preheat oven to 437F.
Mix the ingredients for the crumble in a bowl. Spread it out on a paper-lined baking plate and bake for about 10 minutes until golden. Allow to cool.
Split, core and cut the apples in wedges. Sauté until tender in butter, together with honey and cinnamon. Add the lime juice.
Divide the crumble into serving glasses or bowls. Top with the apples. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Add the sugar in turns while beating to a glossy meringue. Dab or pipe it on the apples and put in the oven for coloring just a few minutes. Make sure the meringue doesn't burn.
