APRICOT SQUARES

4 eggs
1.6 cup sugar
3½ oz butter or margarine
0.6 cup regular milk
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2.4 cups flour
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 can apricot halves, approx 14 oz
Preheat oven to 392F.
Beat eggs and sugar until white and fluffy. Melt the butter, allow to cool and stir it in together with milk and lemon juice. Mix flour, baking powder and vanilla sugar and turn this into the batter. Pour in a baking paper-lined roasting pan. Cut the drained apricot halves in wedges and spread them out over the batter. Bake just below the middle of the oven for 15 minutes. Allow to cool and cut in squares.
