Filled Ground Meat Cake - Fylld köttfärskaka

FILLED GROUND MEAT CAKE
Fylld köttfärskaka

Ground meat in different shapes and variations is liked by most people, even children. This filling with onions, bell pepper and parsley makes the ground meat taste a little different.

Serves 4

0.3 cup dried breadcrumbs
1.2 cup milk
14 oz ground meat (50/50 beef/pork)
1½ teaspoons salt
some black pepper
1 egg
2 finely chopped onions
1 chopped green bell pepper
butter or margarine
0.2 cup finely chopped parsley
butter or margarine for the pan
approx 0.8 cup grated cheese


Mix the bread with approx 0.8 cup of the milk and leave to swell for about 10 minutes. Mix the meat with salt and pepper and then add the breadcrumb mixture, egg and remaining milk. Work the meat until smooth and rather loose.

Make the filling. Sauté onions and bell pepper in some fat and add the parsley. Spread half of the meat in a greased, oven-proof pan. Put the filling on top and spread remaining meat over the filling. Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake in the oven at 390F for 30 to 40 minutes.
