PATÉ WITH OLIVES AND BELL PEPPERS
Pastej med oliver och paprika
This scrumptious paté is a little southern European in taste with its filling of green olives and bell peppers. You can eat it hot or cold, it's good either way.
Serves 4
1 lb ground meat (a mixture of veal, beef and pork)
1 egg
0.4 cup dried breadcrumbs
1 grated onion
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon white pepper
10 to 15 green, pimiento-filled olives
½ to 1 bell pepper
1 to 1.2 cup water
butter or margarine for the pan
Mix the ground meat with egg, breadcrumbs, onion, salt and pepper in a bowl. Slice the olives. Trim and dice the bell pepper and add olives and bell pepper to the meat. Work it with water until smooth.
Put the meat in a greased, oven-proof pan and bake in the oven at 350F for about 45 minutes or until done.
Serve it warm with boiled vegetables and toast, or cold with salad and bread.
