Ground Meat Pâté with Tomatoes - Köttpastej med tomatsmak

GROUND MEAT PÂTÉ WITH TOMATOES
Köttpastej med tomatsmak

Ground meat with tomatoes and some nice herbs. The pâté is baked in a waterbath in the oven and towards the end of the cooking time you cover the surface with some crispy bacon for an even better taste.

Serves 4

1 can tomatoes, approx 14 oz
2 slices White bread
14 oz ground meat, 50/50 beef/pork
1 egg
2 tablespoons potato flour
3 tablespoons chopped onion
1½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried marjoram or oregano
½ teaspoon white pepper
butter or margarine for the dish
approx 3½ oz bacon


Drain the tomatoes and save the liquid. Soak the bread in about 0.4 cup of the tomato liquid. Mix the meat with tomatoes, bread, egg, potato flour and onion. Add salt and herbs. Put the meat in a greased, oven-proof dish.

Bake the meat in a waterbath in the oven at 390F for about 30 minutes. Lower the heat to 350F and bake for another 30 minutes. Fry the bacon and put them on the meat shortly before serving with boiled potatoes, mushroom sauce and a salad.
